Installing Motor Operator on the ETIBREAK NBS MCCBs

In this blog, we’ll walk you through the installation and basic operation of the motor operator for ETIBREAK NBS moulded case circuit breakers (MCCBs). This accessory is designed to enhance control and convenience by enabling remote switching of the moulded case circuit breaker—both turning it ON and OFF----- from a distance.

🔧 What is a Motor Operator?

A motor operator is a compact device that mounts directly onto the circuit breaker and allows it to be operated either manually or remotely. This is especially useful in industrial or commercial applications where circuit breakers may be difficult to access.

🛠️ Installation Steps

Installing the motor operator is simple and intuitive:

  • Ensure safety first: The circuit breaker must be in the OFF position before installation.
  • Mounting: Align the motor operator with the front panel of the MCCB.

  • Secure the unit: Use the four screws provided in the package to fasten the motor operator securely in place.
  • Initial setup: For the first use, manually switch the breaker to the ON position using the handle.

⚙️ Operating Modes

The motor operator supports two control modes:

1. Manual Mode

  • Use the handle on the operator to turn the breaker ON or OFF.

  • Always rotate the handle clockwise and by exactly 180°.

  • Switching to manual mode automatically disables remote control.

2. Automatic Mode

  • Set the selector switch to AUTO.

  • Supply control voltage to terminals P1 and P2.

  • Remote operation is now enabled via control terminals.

🔌 Remote Control: How It Works

Once powered, you can remotely control the breaker as follows:

  • To turn ON: Close contacts S1 and S2.

  • To turn OFF: Close contacts S1 and S4.

⚠️ Important Safety Note: Terminals S1, S2, and S4 carry live voltage. Do not apply additional voltage to these terminals—they are internally connected.

🔍 Additional Features

  • Status Indicator: Located on the left side of the unit, showing the current position (ON/OFF).

  • Trip Test Button: Simulates a trip to verify correct breaker response.

✅ Conclusion

The motor operator for ETIBREAK NBS provides reliable, remote-controlled operation for safe and efficient power distribution management. Whether you're using it manually or integrating it into an automated system, its ease of use and safety features make it a valuable addition to any low-voltage electrical setup.
